Operation Style
What is Operation STYLE?
Operation STYLE stands for: Safer Times in York, Lets Enjoy!
Operation STYLE is a partnership led operation aimed at reducing the disorder and traffic collisions that are due to alcohol and drugs.
Why Style?
To start the evening in STYLE,
To end the evening in STYLE,
Not to end the evening in A&E,
Not to end the evening in a police cell.
Some images taken of the launch of Operation STYLE in the York City Centre are also available in our galleries at:

Changes to the Law that Affect You!
Operation STYLE is also about informing the public about changes to the law that affect you!
Section 27 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006
A police constable in uniform can issue you with a direction to leave a place if you are over the age of ten and the constable thinks you are likely to commit alcohol-related crime or disorder. You will be given a form stating the area which you have to leave (e.g. city centre as bounded by the city walls), how long you have to leave the area (e.g. immediately) and for how long you have to stay away (upto 48 hours).
If you fail to leave, or return within the allocated time, you will be arrested.
Section 30 of the Policing and Crime Act
If you are under 18 and are caught with alcohol in a public place 3 or more times in a 12 month period you are committing an offence. You could be arrested and fined up to £500.
