New National Non-Emergency Number 101

The new national non-emergency number 101 is now live and has replaced our local 0845 60 60 24 7 number. The introduction of the 101 number offers the public one easy number to contact North Yorkshire Police in a non-emergency situation.

When you call 101, an automated message will ask whether you want North Yorkshire Police or another force due to 101 being a national number adopted by all 43 police forces.

The 101 number is available 24 hours a day and calls to 101 will cost 15 pence for the entire call, no matter how long the call or what time of day it is. This applies to both landlines and mobile phones. For many, this will be cheaper than the current cost of calling the police for non-emergencies. Calls to some existing police non-emergency numbers can cost over 40 pence per minute on pay-as-you-go tariffs.

For those callers who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired the service can be accessed via textphone on 18001 101.

Please pass the message on to your family and friends and make sure they all know the new non-emergency number 101.

In an emergency always call 999
