Autocrime Task group
The Auto-crime Task Group is a multi-agency group and meets on a monthly basis.
The Auto-crime Task group looks primarily to reduce crimes against vehicle which come under the sub heading of National Indicator 16 of the Local Area Agreement, Serious Acquisitive Crime, as well as other crimes involving vehicles. These crimes are:
- Theft from a Motor Vehicle
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Criminal Damage to Motor Vehicles
- Vehicle Interference
- Aggravated Taking of a Vehicle
As with other task groups, the Auto-crime Task Group uses the National Intelligence Model (NIM) to drive its business.
NIM is an intelligence led Business Model, utilised by Police Forces in the UK to gather and manage information in order to make the most effective decisions. NIM was devised by the National Criminal Intelligence Service and adopted by the Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland in 2000. Essentially, the model professionalises the intelligence discipline by facilitating the identification of Priorities and the allocation of resources.
Use of NIM ensures that the group directs its time, efforts and resources to those areas of work (geographic or thematic) which have the greatest potential for achieving reductions in crime.
